Designed in 2015 our Shoreditch dining table features a modern pleated-pedestal made from a solid sheet of iron that is hand-bent to form beautiful corrugations. These gentle undulations of metal taper as the pedestal rises to join the rich wood tones of its round, solid wood table top.
We really love how this industrial sheet metal has been bent to form undulating corrugations on the table's pedestal base. The sheet iron has a sense of familiarity for us too - galvanised corrugated iron is an iconic building material and part of the Queensland outback. A popular material choice due to its strength, durability, efficiency and low-maintenance.

Dotted along those long dirt roads were the old homesteads, big wooden houses with a veranda on all four sides, sitting alone on a vast cattle station with only a corrugated iron water-tanks for company. It was the memory of these corrugated iron drums that we played with when designing the pedestal base for the Shoreditch dining table. Turing the corrugations on their side to run along the length of the table pedestal and adding a slight flare at the base to create the illusion of a slight breeze and a sense of motion.
The resulting Shoreditch dining table sits 8 people comfortably for a relaxed and casual dining experience where the simple art of sharing food can be enjoyed with a bit of thoughtful conversation.
Shoreditch dining table sold exclusively in the US from 2017-2020 and we are now happy to be able to offer this product to a wider market.
