Snocker is our new studio space and where I plan to resolve all my future age-related issues. It is a new space for us to expand our design practice and to really explore our process, experiment with materials and get messy. A space where we can make mistakes, learn about new ideas, refine our sculpting skills on a larger scale and launch our new pieces under our Batch Living brand.

The word ‘bach’ (pronounced batch) is a colloquial term for a small beach-side house in New Zealand and is where Leonhard spent most of his summers as a child. Leonhard and I are both from islands, one is big, the other a large cluster; so being by the ocean is where we feel most at home.

Leonhard is home right now ‘working’ with our sick 6 year old under foot. Which has us thinking once again about lockdowns, homeschooling and working from home.

PFEIFER is looking for someone to take our social content to the next level, help grow our online presence and to build and nurture our design-led community. The job title probably fits into ‘Digital content creation’ but we are more interested in your story and how you can help tell ours.

Here at PFEIFER, Leonhard and I too like to ‘let an idea marinate’ in our minds for some time, until it is ready to be useful or evolve into its final conclusion.

Which led to our conversation - does something hold its value if that value is not common knowledge? Or is something only valuable because a handful of people understand its importance? Does value increase or diminish because it can be overlooked by those not ‘in the know’ and then treasured by those who do?
